Breast Reduction

For women who want or need to reduce the size of their breasts, Dr. Kevin Rose performs breast reduction at his Provo, Utah practice to raise and reshape the breasts for improved comfort and appearance.

Overly large breasts can cause many problems, both physical and emotional. In addition to back pain, bra strap grooves, and posture problems, women with large breasts often feel self-conscious due to the unwanted attention that they have received through the years. Additionally, it can be difficult for large-breasted women to find clothing that fits, or engage in certain physical activities such as jogging or aerobics.

Why Breast Reduction?

Breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, is a good option for women who want to reduce, raise, and reshape large, sagging breasts and to alleviate problems including:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Deep, painful grooves from bra straps
  • Skin rashes beneath the breasts
  • Limited range of motion

Breast reduction for our Salt Lake City, Orem, and Provo patients has an extremely high rate of patient satisfaction due to the tremendous discomfort it can relieve. In addition, Dr. Rose can reduce the size of enlarged areolas (the darkly pigmented circles of skin around the nipple) during this procedure or perform a breast lift in addition to reduction for a more elevated contour.

About the Procedure

During this 3 to 4 hour procedure, Dr. Rose uses an anchor-shaped incision to remove excess breast tissue, skin, and fat, and then repositions the remaining tissue and nipples to a more elevated, youthful position. Dr. Rose performs breast reduction as an outpatient procedure, using general anesthesia for optimal comfort and safety. He can perform the surgery at Riverwoods Surgery Center, our on-site facility, or at the hospital required by your insurance company.

The postsurgical discomfort, swelling, and bruising that you may experience is temporary and will subside over the course of a few days. Medication can be prescribed if necessary. You should be able to return to work after approximately a week, and more strenuous activities after about 4 weeks. Fully realized results, including fading of scars, may take several months to a year.

Dear Dr. Rose,
You really saved my life! My last migraine was July 18, 2005, two days before you changed my life. You made me able to go to a full year of high school and graduate with my class. How can I ever thank you enough? You gave me life. I had only gone to two full terms of schools from 9th to 11th grade. The only way I can thank you is to spread the word that there is help for people with migraines, the help is YOU! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.
