Nose Surgery
Rhinoplasty, also known as cosmetic nose surgery, helps our Salt Lake City, Provo and Orem area patients feel better about the balance of their nose with the rest of their face. This surgical procedure is one of the most popular facial plastic surgeries in the United States, and for good reason – even subtle changes to the nose can produce a remarkable improvement and enhanced self-image.
About the Procedure
Rhinoplasty at our Provo, Orem and Salt Lake City, Utah practice can reshape the nose by:
- Reducing or increasing size
- Removing a hump
- Changing shape of the tip or bridge
- Narrowing the span of the nostrils
- Changing the angle between the nose and the upper lip
The surgery also can be performed to relieve some breathing problems, birth defects, or injuries, in which case it may be fully or partially covered by health insurance. The outpatient procedure usually takes from 2 to 4 hours, and usually requires general anesthesia.
Recovery and Results
During recovery, you may experience swelling, bruising around the eyes and nose, headache and/or nasal stuffiness. You may need to take 1 to 2 weeks off from work, depending on how concerned you are about your appearance. The shape of the nose will continue to change subtly over the course of up to a year, but you should be able to see significant improvement in just a few weeks.
