As you age, your face begins to show the effects of gravity, sun exposure, and the joys and stresses of daily life. Nasolabial folds start to form in the area between the nose and mouth. The jaw line begins to sag, jowls form, and folds and fatty deposits in the neck may contribute to the appearance of a double chin. As our facelift patients from Salt Lake City, Provo, and Orem, know, the surgery cannot stop this aging process. But what we can do is “set back the clock,” improving the most visible signs of aging in the mid to lower face and neck. A face lift can be performed alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as a forehead lift, eyelid surgery, neck lift, or rhinoplasty near Salt Lake City.
About the Procedure
When Dr. Rose performs face lift surgery on Salt Lake City patients, he removes excess fat, tightens underlying muscles, and re-drapes the skin and tissue of the mid and lower face. This can improve the appearance of:
- Sagging facial skin
- Marionette lines and jowls
- Loose neck skin
This outpatient procedure is most often performed on men and women over 40 who want to bring back a more youthful look to the face and neck. The procedure may take several hours, depending on the extent of the face lift, and is performed using general anesthesia. For individuals with fat deposits in the neck area, liposuction near Salt Lake City may also be suggested to help improve the appearance of jowls.
Recovery from face lift involves temporary bruising, swelling, numbness and tenderness of the skin, and most people will need to take 10 to 14 days off of work and strenuous activities. After 2 or 3 weeks, bruising and swelling should subside, and you may begin to show off your enhanced, more youthful looking face.
