Our team of highly trained estheticians perform BOTOX injections in the Provo, Orem, Lehi, & Salt Lake City, Utah areas at The Rose Clinic for women and men to reduce the signs of aging.

What is BOTOX?

BOTOX is a highly diluted form of botulinum toxin type A, a neuromuscular toxin. This injectable product has been proven safe and approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for smoothing frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet. It is frequently used in conjunction with plastic surgery procedures to maximize results.

How much on average does BOTOX cost?

The cost of a BOTOX® treatment varies based on each patient’s unique situation and goals. As an average, you can expect to spend from $350 for a single area to $600 to $700 for a more comprehensive treatment.

What are the Benefits of BOTOX?

BOTOX injections provide quick and effective treatment for facial lines and wrinkles caused by environmental factors, stress, and aging. This treatment can be used to lift the brow and smooth frown lines on the forehead and creases between your brows that make you look older, tired, or even angry. BOTOX can help diminish the appearance of crow’s feet and wrinkles around the eyes to help create a more youthful, smoother, rejuvenated facial appearance.

Receiving BOTOX is known to be a very versatile cosmetic procedure, effective for treating more than lines in the forehead and around the eyes, with results that last for 3 to 4 months. It can also be used to:

  • Treat bunny lines (tiny creases around the nose)
  • Smooth lip lines
  • Diminish neck bands
  • Lift the corners of the mouth
  • Correct a gummy smile (too much gum showing)
  • Improve skin dimpling on the chin

How Does BOTOX Work?

Scowl lines and crow’s feet – wrinkles in the areas of the forehead and the eyes – form because of muscle movement of facial expressions. BOTOX blocks signals from the nerve to the muscle, so the muscle can no longer contract. This treatment temporarily relaxes the muscles causing lines and wrinkles, resulting in smoother skin and a refreshed appearance. Results typically last for several months.

Am I the right Candidate for BOTOX?

If you are in good general health, but are tired of seeing frown lines, wrinkles, and lines, you are probably a candidate for BOTOX in the Salt Lake City, Utah area at The Rose Clinic. If you have excessive skin sagging and loss of elasticity, you may require more than BOTOX to create the smoother, younger look you want, but for many of our patients, BOTOX has helped them stay looking younger for longer.

The Procedure

BOTOX treatments takes only a few minutes, and no anesthesia is required. Our nurses' gentle technique are critical factors in minimizing discomfort and bruising with this procedure. They use tiny needles to perform BOTOX injections, and with any BOTOX treatment, the hand behind the needle is the most important issue. Targeting the right muscles, and careful use of the product will smooth your face, without giving you a frozen, unnatural look. When injected correctly, you can attain a chemical brow lift which opens the eyes and turns back the clock.

Injections are strategically placed for maximum benefit. The number of injections and quantity of BOTOX used will depend on the condition being addressed, the area being treated, and your treatment goals. It typically takes 3 to 7 days for the full cosmetic benefits of BOTOX injections to take effect, and lasts for 3 to 4 months.

After Treatment

There is no downtime after a BOTOX treatment. You can return to your normal activities immediately after the procedure, but intense exercise is not recommended the day of. It is recommended that you avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas after the procedure, as this could cause the botulinum toxin to migrate to other areas.

Jaw contouring is a recently discovered cosmetic use for BOTOX. For patients who have overdeveloped masseter (jaw) muscles, BOTOX injections have been shown to reduce the size of the muscles, creating a more gently curved cheek and jaw and a more feminine, oval-shaped facial profile. Although there is no surgery and bone structure altered, reducing the thickness of the jaw muscles can noticeably refine the angle of the jaw.

What areas are usually treated with BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is used primarily for treating facial areas, including:

  • Your brow: Wrinkles and creases that form in between your brows, often called “11s”, can make you appear angry, upset older – even on your best days. BOTOX® is often used to smooth these lines for a more youthful, refreshed expression.
  • Your forehead: Horizontal lines across the brow can become etched into your skin. BOTOX® can halts the constant muscle contractions, for a smoother look, while preventing the creases from deepening.
  • Under your eyes: Crow’s feet can be smoothed with BOTOX®, for a refreshed, youthful look.
  • Your jaw: Those who suffer from enlarged jaw muscles or habitually clench the jaw muscles can benefit from injections. The size of the muscles creating a square-looking jaw diminish in size, while relieving any discomfort that may be associated with a clenched jaw.
  • Around the mouth: Fine lines around your mouth, called “marionette lines,” can be smoothed out with BOTOX®. A subtle increase in lip volume can be achieved with a BOTOX® lip lift.

Frequently Asked Questions

Considering BOTOX, but have some questions? Find out more about it by calling us with your individual questions and arranging a consultation.

How do I prepare for BOTOX injections?

Generally, no preparation is needed for BOTOX injections. You can help avoid excess bruising and swelling by stopping taking aspirin or other blood-thinning products, whether medication or a supplement, as well as ibuprofen products. A fast review of your medical history will reveal if you have any condition that would make the use of BOTOX less safe in your case.

How long does the treatment take?

The actual injection procedure takes only minutes and can easily fit into even the busiest schedule.

What is recovery like after BOTOX injections?

BOTOX injections don’t really involve a “recovery.” You are free to leave and continue your normal activities directly after the treatment. Any redness at the injection site can be covered with makeup. Your only restrictions are that you cannot exercise or perform vigorous physical activities or lie down for about four hours, so the product enters the muscle strands correctly.

Are there side effects with BOTOX?

BOTOX has been in use for many years and is safe for cosmetic use. While this is true, it is crucial that your injections are performed under the guidance of our board-certified plastic surgeon. Never take the risk of BOTOX injections at a “BOTOX party” or cut-rate medspa – counterfeit BOTOX has been discovered in the USA and can be dangerous. The usual side effects are minor redness and swelling, which typically disappear within hours. More serious side effects are extremely rare, but can include headache, dry eyes, excessive tear production, and some other issues.

Will I look unnatural after BOTOX injections?

As with any facial enhancement, it is the hands behind the procedure that make all the difference. Correctly performed BOTOX injections look natural, not frozen. The frozen look is related to a treatment in which too much of the product is injected. If you have any more questions, feel free to call and talk to us about Botox in Lehi & Orem.

What should I avoid after treatment?

Some of the key things to avoid immediately after a BOTOX® treatment are:

  • Don’t touch the treated area
  • Avoid any vigorous physical activities
  • Don’t take anti-inflammatories, painkillers, or drink alcohol
  • Don’t lie down for four to six hours after treatment

Can a botched BOTOX® treatment be fixed or revised?

The ability to fix a botched BOTOX® treatment depends on the nature of the error. In some cases, additional BOTOX® treatments can balance or repair an uneven result, but in other cases, the product will have to wear off over time.

How does BOTOX® differ from other injectables and dermal fillers?

BOTOX® is the most well-known neuromodulator on the market with decades of use and many case studies proving its safety and effectiveness. There are two primary categories of cosmetic injectables:

  • Muscle relaxants: BOTOX®, Dysport®, and other products are called neuromodulators or muscle relaxants. They are designed to stop muscles from contracting, smoothing facial expressions and preventing wrinkles from becoming etched into your skin.
  • Dermal fillers: Products like Juvéderm, Restylane, and others work to restore volume and help smooth lines and creases, without affecting the underlying muscles.

When will I see results?

Most patients see results within three to five days of treatment.

Is it painful?

Most patients report minimal or no pain with BOTOX® injections. For those who are very sensitive, a topical numbing cream can be applied before the injections.
