Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) in Provo Utah
Eyelid surgery (technically called blepharoplasty) is a procedure to remove fat – usually along with excess skin and muscle – from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below your eyes – features that make you look older and more tired than you feel, and may even interfere with your vision.
However, it won’t remove crow’s feet or other wrinkles, eliminate dark circles under your eyes, or lift sagging eyebrows. Eyelid surgery at our Salt Lake City, Utah area clinic is often performed in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures such as a forehead lift or rhinoplasty.
Eyelid Surgery Procedure
Eyelid surgery helps correct drooping upper eyelids and puffy bags below their eyes by removing excess fat, skin, and muscle. Upper-eyelid surgery may be covered by insurance if used to correct visual field defects. In some cases, facelift surgery may also be chosen for more complete rejuvenation benefits.
Dr. Rose performs this 1 to 3 hour outpatient procedure at the Riverwoods Surgery Center using anesthesia for patient safety and comfort. During the recovery period, you may experience temporary discomfort, swelling, bruising, and eye irritation and sensitivity to light. Most patients can return to work within 7 to 10 days, and more strenuous activities in about 3 weeks. Full resolution of bruising and swelling may take slightly longer.
